EBSI Demystifying Seminar in Spain

13 Feb 2025

The Spanish Ministry for Digital Transformation and Public Service organised an EBSI Demystifying Seminar on 13 February 2025

Madrid, February 13, 2025 - The Ministry for Digital Transformation and Public Service, through its General Secretariat for Digital Administration, held a hybrid seminar on the evolution of the European Blockchain Services Infrastructure (EBSI) network. This event was part of the dissemination activities associated with the European EBSI-NE Consortium, led by Spain.

The seminar underscored the Spanish Government's commitment to technological innovation and its dedication to fostering intergovernmental collaboration in Europe, alongside the private sector, to develop verifiable and reliable cross-border services for citizens and businesses through blockchain technology. The EBSI initiative aims to advance the recognition of blockchain's potential to enhance digital services, benefiting public administrations, companies, and citizens alike.

Santiago Graña, Deputy Director-General for Digital Administration Planning and Governance at the Ministry, inaugurated the event. The seminar featured participation from key stakeholders in the development of the EBSI network, representing both the public and private sectors. Discussions covered specific use cases such as digital identity and academic diplomas, network governance, the involvement of all member states and numerous stakeholders, as well as future challenges following the establishment of the EUROPEUM-EDIC consortium, which Spain joined the previous year.
